The city government of Davao will continue operating on its regular Monday to Friday schedule, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as officials assess the possible implementation of a four-day workweek arrangement.
According to City Information Officer Harvey Lanticse, all offices at City Hall remain open on weekdays to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of public services.
“As of today, the Davao City LGU remains open from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to ensure the continued delivery of services to Dabawenyos,” Lanticse said.
Lanticse added that currently the city is assessing the situation and will announce any changes to the work schedule if necessary.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recently ordered the temporary implementation of a four-day workweek in some executive branch offices starting March 9, as part of the government’s efforts to conserve energy and reduce fuel use amid rising global oil prices triggered by the ongoing Middle East crisis.
Under the arrangement, employees would work longer hours for four days instead of the traditional five-day schedule.
The concept has been considered by several local governments and national agencies as a potential response to rising energy costs and traffic congestion, although implementation varies depending on the needs of each office.
Lanticse said any shift to a compressed workweek would be carefully studied to ensure that public services remain accessible and efficient for residents.
He said for now, the city government of Davao emphasized that transactions and services at the Davao City Hall will continue under the normal weekday schedule while the assessment is ongoing.
