Bong Go urges government to implement concrete measures amid global oil crisis

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go called on the government to put in place more concrete and more responsive measures as Filipinos battled the usual challenges hampering their daily routines prior to the observance of Holy Week, stressing that the transition comes at a time when many continue to feel the burden of rising fuel costs, including prices of basic commodities, linked to the global oil crisis.

Go emphasized that while Holy Week provided a period for reflection, the reality facing many Filipinos upon returning to work remains shaped by increasing transportation expenses and higher costs of daily necessities. He noted that this calls for a more proactive and coordinated response from concerned agencies.

The senator pointed out that sectors heavily affected by fuel price hikes, including transport workers and low-income families, require immediate and sustained assistance. He underscored the need for targeted interventions that can ease the impact of rising costs as economic activity picks up again after the holiday period.

Go also highlighted the importance of preparedness and coordination among relevant agencies to ensure that mitigation measures are effectively implemented. He noted that clear communication and efficient systems are necessary to prevent further strain on the public as mobility and economic activity increase.

He added that the lessons of Holy Week—reflection, compassion, and responsibility—should guide both leaders and citizens in addressing present challenges, particularly in ensuring that no Filipino is left behind amid ongoing economic pressures.

Go concluded by urging sustained vigilance and collective action, emphasizing that strong and responsive governance remains crucial as the country moves forward while confronting external economic pressures such as the global oil situation.
