CSWDO denounces fake P40K OFW aid

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding a viral scam promising large cash payouts to families of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

In a public advisory issued on Thursday, the CSWDO clarified that reports of a P40,000 and P10,000 financial assistance package circulating on social media are “false” and not part of any official program of the city government of Davao.

The office emphasized that government aid is never distributed without a formal vetting process.

“Please be informed that all financial assistance extended by the CSWDO is subject to proper assessment and validation by our social workers, in accordance with the existing guidelines and policies,” CSWDO stated.

CSWDO urged Dabawenyos to exercise caution online.

“The public is strongly advised to avoid sharing and believing unverified or misleading information. For accurate and official update, please refer only to the official CSWDO platforms,” it added.

Meanwhile, from March 2 to 31, 2026, CSWDO catered 562 left-behind families and assisted in the repatriation of six distressed OFWs through the CSWDO-OFW Families’ Welfare and Crisis Center (OFWFWCC).

The center provided services including psychosocial first aid and food assistance.

The OFWFWCC also facilitated eight repatriation requests to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and referred one individual to the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) for employment.
