The Commission on Elections in Davao Region (Comelec Davao) recorded over 271,000 newly registered voters during the recently concluded voter registration period for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
According to Gay Enumerables, the registration period officially ended on May 18, 2026, with a noticeable increase in applicants just days before the deadline despite the agency’s earlier rollout of satellite registration offices and caravans in schools and establishments across the region.
Enumerables said some districts in Davao Region still posted low voter registration turnout, prompting the agency to continue reminding the public about the importance of participating in the upcoming elections.
She also highlighted that the voter registration process has become easier compared to previous years. Instead of filling out three application forms, applicants during the latest registration period only needed to complete one form before proceeding to biometric capture.
However, Enumerables clarified that voter registration for new applicants cannot be conducted fully online because biometric data must still be gathered in person.
“As to registration, kay kinahanglan man gyud patunghaon, capture mi, biometrics capture mi, it’s to be done personally. So, walay online nga mahitabo for new registration. Uh, naa man tay gihimo nga reactivation,” Enumerables said.
In February this year, the Comelec released Resolution No. 11191, which sets the official calendar of activities for the November 2, 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Under the schedule, the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) will run from September 28 to October 5, 2026, with aspirants encouraged to file early to ensure an orderly process and avoid long queues on the final day of submission.
The election period will be observed from October 3 to November 9 and the official campaign period is set from October 22 to October 31, 2026.
