Ambassador of Denmark to the Philippines Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Sebastian Duterte on Wednesday to discuss possible areas of cooperation between Denmark and Davao City.

The discussions centered on agriculture, health, investments, information technology, and green energy as both sides explored opportunities for stronger bilateral ties and future business partnerships.

Christian Cambaya, head of the Investor Assistance Servicing Unit of the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC), said the visit was mainly exploratory but noted Denmark’s expertise in hog production and the possibility of more Danish businesses visiting the city.

“More on exploratory. Denmark is strong in hog production though. Naa pud daw sila dalahon sa Davao soon a business delegation coming from the information technology sector,” Cambaya told Edge Davao.

Councilor Rachel Zozobrado, chairperson of the Committee on International Relations, said the meeting also coincided with the celebration of 80 years of diplomatic relations between Denmark and the Philippines.

She said the visit reflects the shared commitment of Denmark and Davao City to innovation and long-term cooperation.

Mellbin is the ninth foreign ambassador to visit Davao City this year, highlighting continued international interest in the city as an emerging investment hub in Mindanao.

Also present during the meeting were Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, chairperson of the Committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry; Councilor Ragde Niño Abuyan, chairperson of the Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization; DCIPC Officer-in-Charge April Marie C. Dayap; City Information Office Officer-in-Charge Harvey James Lanticse; and Cambaya.
