New subdivision expected to generate investment in Davao City: Quitain

A newly approved high-end subdivision in Bago Gallera is expected to generate investments and create jobs in Davao City, according to Councilor J. Melchor Quitain Jr.

Speaking during Pulong-Pulong sa Dabawenyo, Quitain, chair of the Committees on Government Properties and on Housing and Subdivision Development under PD 957, said the project marks a significant addition to the city’s housing developments this term.

“I have good news. We have a newly approved development at Bago Gallera. It’s a high-end subdivision under PD 957. This is the first subdivision development for high-end that we’ve approved for this term. The company is Contempo,” Quitain said.

He stressed that the project is expected to benefit both the local economy and the community, particularly residents in the area.

“This development will generate income for the city and provide job opportunities, especially for those in Bago Gallera. We hope that despite the current crisis, investors will continue to see Davao City’s potential and that their projects will prosper here,” he added.

Quitain also highlighted efforts to streamline the approval process for development permits, saying this is part of encouraging more investors to enter the city.

“We can speed up the process. Once an application reaches the City Council, it’s referred for a first reading and then downloaded to my committee. I will immediately conduct hearings. In about a month’s time, everything can be done, and they can have the resolution approving their development permit and other necessary permits to start their project,” he explained.

He said faster action on applications signals the city’s readiness to support business and development.

“Acting fast is one way to encourage investors and show that the City Council is serious about getting to work,” Quitain said.
