The 21st Davao City Council approved on third and final reading on Tuesday Supplemental Budget No. 1 amounting to P1.25 billion.
The ordinance allocates a total of P1,253,541,058.86 for the General Fund Proper, Development Fund, and Economic Enterprises.
Of the total amount, P891.66 million has been allocated to the General Fund Proper, while P333.25 million will be sourced from the Development Fund.
Another P15.65 million has been earmarked for Economic Enterprises.
The City Government’s Executive Department certified the measure as urgent and necessary, allowing the council to fast-track its approval.
Committee on Finance, Ways and Means Chairperson Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said the approved budget will be transmitted to the City Mayor for final approval before implementation.
He added that all projects funded under the supplemental budget will undergo the required public bidding process in accordance with government procurement and auditing regulations.
Dayanghirang previously disclosed that around P200 million has been allocated for the procurement of additional buses and the digitalization component of the city’s public transport system.
The City Government of Davao has confirmed plans to acquire 20 additional electric buses, expanding the DC Bus fleet from the current 10 units to 30.
Among the highlights of the supplemental budget is the allocation of P34 million for landslide mitigation and structural works at the city’s sanitary landfill following recent incidents in Barangay New Carmen, Tugbok District.
Dayanghirang earlier said that most of the funding priorities fall under the Executive Department, particularly transport modernization initiatives and social services programs.
He added that the city’s priorities include the expansion of the bus system and the development of supporting infrastructure, such as traffic management equipment.
