The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has taken six Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) into protective custody and recovered the bladed weapon allegedly used in the stabbing of two high school students following a follow-up operation conducted by the Sasa Police Station in Diamond Village, Damosa, Davao City, on Monday.
Based on the investigation, the two students were walking home from school when they were allegedly attacked by a group of youth.
One victim sustained three stab wounds to the back, while the other suffered a stab wound. Both were rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), where they continue to receive medical treatment.
Personnel from the Sasa Police Station later conducted a follow-up operation in Barangay San Jose, Buhangin, which led to the protective custody of the six minors allegedly involved in the attack.
The primary suspect, identified only by the alias “Justin,” was positively identified by the victims and subsequently surrendered the Swiss knife allegedly used in the stabbing.
“Our immediate response enabled us to take the six Children in Conflict with the Law into custody and recover the bladed weapon used in the incident. This demonstrates the DCPO’s commitment to ensuring swift police action while observing child-sensitive procedures mandated by law,” the DCPO said.
Police said the operation reflects the office’s continuing efforts to address cases involving CICL and children at risk (CAR) through a balanced approach that combines law enforcement with restorative justice.
“The DCPO remains steadfast in protecting the community while upholding the rights and welfare of children in accordance with existing laws. We will continue to ensure that justice is pursued responsibly, public safety is preserved, and appropriate interventions are provided for minors in conflict with the law,” the office added.
The six minors, along with the recovered Swiss knife and other pieces of evidence, remain under police custody for proper disposition and further investigation in accordance with the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act and other applicable laws.
