The Department of Energy–Mindanao Field Office (DOE-MFO) reported that the Mindanao power grid continued to maintain a stable and reliable electricity supply, based on the Mindanao 2026 Demand-Supply Situation Report as of July 5, 2026, using data from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) Daily Operations Report.
The DOE-MFO stated that from January 1 to July 5, 2026, the Mindanao grid recorded a year-to-date peak demand of 2,775 megawatts (MW), which occurred on May 12, 2026.
It added that during the same period, the average actual system demand reached 2,429 MW, while the average actual available capacity stood at 3,343 MW.
According to DOE-MFO, this resulted in an average actual gross reserve of 913 MW, reflecting sufficient generating capacity to support the region’s electricity requirements.
For the week covering June 29 to July 5, 2026, daily peak demand ranged from 2,302 MW to 2,507 MW.
DOE-MFO said available capacity remained consistently above 3,160 MW throughout the week, while gross reserve levels ranged from 716 MW to 981 MW, ensuring adequate operating margins for the Mindanao grid.
DOE-MFO also said that on June 29, the system registered a peak demand of 2,507 MW with an available capacity of 3,379 MW, a gross reserve of 872 MW, and total generation of 62,075 megawatt-hours (MWh).
On June 30, peak demand slightly declined to 2,500 MW as available capacity increased to 3,481 MW, resulting in the week’s highest gross reserve of 981 MW and total generation of 60,811 MWh.
On July 1, peak demand reached 2,488 MW with an available capacity of 3,204 MW, a gross reserve of 716 MW, and total generation of 59,283 MWh.
The following day, July 2, peak demand was recorded at 2,497 MW, while available capacity reached 3,218 MW, gross reserve stood at 721 MW, and total generation totaled 59,452 MWh.
On July 3, the grid posted a peak demand of 2,493 MW with an available capacity of 3,266 MW, a gross reserve of 773 MW, and total generation of 57,021 MWh.
DOE-MFO said electricity demand eased over the weekend, with July 4 recording a peak demand of 2,341 MW, available capacity of 3,163 MW, gross reserve of 822 MW, and total generation of 57,098 MWh.
On July 5, peak demand further declined to 2,302 MW while available capacity remained at 3,204 MW. Gross reserve improved to 902 MW, and total generation reached 55,083 MWh.
DOE-MFO stressed that the latest figures indicate that the Mindanao grid maintained sufficient generating capacity and healthy reserve margins throughout the reporting period, supporting the continued reliability and stability of the region’s power supply.
