Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday declared that she will never resign from office, saying that stepping down would be a betrayal to the 32.2 million Filipinos who elected her vice president.
Speaking before members of the Filipino community in London during the “Let’s Love the Philippines” gathering in the United Kingdom, Duterte firmly dismissed speculation that she might voluntarily leave her post.
She stressed that resignation is not an option despite the political challenges she is facing.
“[It’s] never gonna happen! Hindi ako magre-resign dahil ’yun ay parang betrayal sa 32.2 million na mga kababayan natin na bumoto sa akin. [Kung] gusto ni BBM, tanggalin niya ako,” she said.
The vice president’s remarks came as she continues to face political pressure amid ongoing issues involving her office.
Duterte also expressed gratitude to God and to the Filipino people for their continued trust and support despite what she described as attacks against her, her family, and her office.
“Ako ay isang blessed na tao ng Diyos dahil sa kabila ng kahirapan na pinagdadaanan ng opisina namin at sa paninira ng administrasyon sa akin, sa aking pamilya, at sa aming opisina, nandiyan pa rin ’yung suporta at tiwala ng mga kababayan natin. Kaya malaking bagay ’yun, at sa Diyos ako nagpapasalamat, at siyempre sa ating mga kababayan,” she said.
She said the sustained public confidence has strengthened her resolve amid the challenges confronting her office.
The vice president also posted the highest net satisfaction rating among the country’s top government officials in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, with her net satisfaction score improving from +29 in March to +31 in June 2026. The nationwide survey, conducted from June 20 to 29 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adult respondents, also recorded Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo with a +10 net satisfaction score (moderate) and Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III with a +8 net satisfaction score (neutral).
Meanwhile, Duterte urged the public to think beyond the present and work toward securing a better future for the next generation.
She emphasized that the sacrifices and efforts being made today are ultimately for the welfare of Filipino families and children.
“Ibalik natin ang tapang at malasakit para sa ating mga anak,” she said.
The vice president called on Filipinos to remain committed to building a better nation, saying the country’s future depends on the courage and compassion of the present generation and the actions they take for the benefit of their children.
