Davao City will take center stage in regional economic cooperation as it hosts the Davao Global Connect: Davao-Borneo Growth Corridor Forum 2026 at the SMX Convention Center at SM Lanang Premier on Friday.
Carrying the theme “Forging Partnerships, Shaping Shared Futures,” the gathering aims to strengthen economic ties and identify investment opportunities linking Mindanao and Borneo while advancing sustainable and inclusive growth across the subregion.
According to the Davao City Investment Promotions Center (DCIPC), the event is expected to further position Davao City as a strategic gateway for trade, investment and business engagement between Mindanao and Borneo, particularly as regional economies pursue stronger connectivity through the BIMP-EAGA.
The one-day gathering will bring together delegates from the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam for discussions on infrastructure, investment, priority industries and human capital. Business and government representatives will also have opportunities to establish partnerships and explore potential investments and market opportunities through business-to-business and business-to-government meetings.
Discussions will likewise examine the corridor’s potential economic drivers and the conditions needed to sustain long-term growth.
One of the major expected outputs is the Davao-Borneo Corridor Action Statement 2030, which DCIPC said will be presented during the final plenary on outcomes and declarations.
The statement is expected to identify priority areas for collaboration and provide a roadmap for initiatives aimed at improving connectivity, strengthening trade and attracting investment between Davao, Mindanao and Borneo.
