The regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE 11) has announced that private sector workers in the Davao Region will receive another round of increase in their daily minimum wage starting September 1 as the second tranche of the wage increase under Wage Order No. RB XI-24, takes effect.
The Wage Order No. RB XI-24 covers private sector workers in the Davao Region with a total daily pay increase divided into two tranches.
According to DOLE 11, the new rates raise the daily minimum wage for agricultural workers from P515 to P525, while workers in the non-agriculture sector will see their minimum wage increase from P525 to P540.
The latest adjustment follows the first tranche, which took effect on March 13, 2026.
DOLE 11 reminded employers across the region to strictly comply with the new wage rates, stressing that workers must receive the compensation mandated under existing labor laws.
DOLE 11 Regional Director and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board 11 (RTWPB 11) Chairperson lawyer Dax B. Villaruel called on employers to faithfully implement the wage adjustment.
“Employers are encouraged to implement the mandated wage adjustments as a concrete expression of respect for workers’ rights and recognition of their valuable contributions to the enterprise,” Villaruel said.
He added that compliance with fair labor standards not only protects workers but also helps promote industrial peace, productivity, and a healthy working environment.
DOLE said compliance with the prescribed minimum wage remains part of its regular labor inspection program. Labor inspectors will verify whether establishments are implementing the new rates during routine inspections.
The agency noted that payment of the prescribed minimum wage has consistently been among the top areas of non-compliance recorded during labor inspections in recent years.
The wage adjustment was issued following consultations conducted by the RTWPB XI, including a public hearing held in February 2026.
DOLE 11 also clarified that Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) with valid Certificates of Authority issued by the Department of Trade and Industry are exempt from the minimum wage law under Republic Act No. 9178, or the Barangay Micro Business Enterprises Act of 2002.
With the second tranche now in effect, DOLE 11 urged both employers and workers to familiarize themselves with the new rates and ensure that the mandated wage adjustments are properly implemented.
