The amount of exports generated by the province of Davao del Norte has increased by up to 653 percent from $0.66 million from July to September 2011 to $4.97 million during the same period this year.
“This constitutes a 305 percent accomplishment rate compared to the $1.63 million targeted export amount for the 3rd quarter of this year,” Davao del Norte Field Office acting provincial director Vedastito C. Galvez said.
He said the total annual export target is $12 million and 41 percent or $4.97 million of this has already been achieved during the third quarter.
The export growth was attributed to the export of fresh and processed bananas and wood products.
Majority or $4.80 million of the export sales for the quarter was registered during the month of September compared to the monthly target of only $0.820 million.
Galvez noted the development of Prime Xynergies Food Corporation, a new indirect exporter for the province which is an assisted banana chips producer based in Tagum City.
He said Prime Xynergies supplies a local buyer selling its products to a foreign market, with banana chips that come in industrialized packaging. [PIA-11/Lovely A. Carillo]
