A BELGIAN expatriate and his Filipina wife is set to open BETA (Business and Entrepreneurial Academy) for college drop-outs early next January.
Raf Vlummens told newsmen attending the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao in Matina last Monday that “BETA will offer them new career opportunities with a six-month (400-hour) entrepreneurial training focused on English communication skills( 200 hours) to bring the participants to IELTS 5.5-6 level needed by them if they want to pursue their studies at our partner school in Sydney (Australia), aside from landing a job in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry in Davao and neighboring areas.”
In line with entrepreneurial skills, Vlummens said “we believe that entrepreneurship is more than business; its everyone’s ability ‘to put ideas into action’.”
He said BETA will offer subjects such as idea and business model development, marketing, financial literacy (with stock exchange game), management skills, basic accounting, basic law and regulations ( corporate law, incorporation of companies, contracts, practical startup regulations….),
financial management and IT, including social networks, and blogging.
The program culminates in the presentation of an action plan, or business plan, or the planning of an event which simply mean putting ideas into action, he said.
The program starts on January 7, 2013 and the classes/ workshops are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8am to 12pm.
As said before, BETA partnered with Australian Academy of Commerce in Sydney, where our graduates, can pursue their studies with a study/work visa and have the opportunity to ‘make their way’ over there.
At BETA we care for our students after they graduate. When they opt to go to Sydney our team and the staff of our counterpart will help and assist them in the choice of their study program, in finding a place to stay and to find them a job so they are ‹self-supporting› during their stay in Australia.
If they have the plan to create an own business , we will help them in finalizing their business concept and marketing plan and will assist them in finding the necessary funding for their venture.
Some of the graduates will opt to stay in Davao and look for a job, with their English communication skills and their hands-on entrepreneurial training we are convinced that they can land a job in the BPO. Off course, also in this case we will support them.
But BETA will not only teach entrepreneurship but will also support young entrepreneurs in developing their business.
They can work BETA’s ‘Incubation Center’ and get support, advice and guidance of mentors and experts.
They will also be given with the opportunity to meet investors and they will be trained in presenting their project in a professional way.
BETA – Business & Entrepreneurial Training Academy is located at AMS-Campus, F. Torres St, Davao City.
BETA will inaugurate the training center with a Campus blessing and free seminar on December 1, 2012 at 2pm at AMS Campus.
Everybody is welcome to assist after reservation by txt or call on 0921 3864487.
