More than 10,000 local and overseas jobs will be up for grabs in the 2015 Labor Day job fair at three major malls in Davao Region.
Department of Labor and Employment 11 officer-in-charge director Jason P. Balais, speaking in yesterday’s Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao Annex, said this will be the second year that the annual job fair will be staged in three venues, namely Gaisano Mall of Davao, SM City Davao and Gaisano Mall of Tagum.
Balais said 3,300 combined local and overseas jobs from a total of 62 establishments were initially solicited by the DOLE 11 as of April 10.
“The DOLE 11 solicited an initial of 1,050 local job vacancies and 2,250 for overseas,” Balais said.
These jobs came from 37 local and 25 overseas agencies.
Balais said the labor agency expects that the number of participating agencies will go up to 100 before the job fair on May 1.
The top five most number of jobs solicited for both local and overseas were call center agents, customer service representatives, construction workers, sales representatives, and office staff and admin clerk.
Balais said more than 10,000 job applicants from Davao Region and nearby provinces are expected to join the one-day job fair.
DOLE 11 is targeting to have 15 percent of the total job applicants hired on the spot (HOTS) during the event.
Last year, DOLE 11 recorded almost 13,000 registered and walk-in job applicants, while more than 2000 were hired and 1,005 HOTS.
Aside from job fair, there will be also a one-stop shop at SM City from April 24-30. Among participating agencies are Social Security System (SSS), Philhealth, Pag-ibig, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), National Statistics Office (NSO), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC).
There will also be a mini job fair at Gaisano Mall of Davao and SM City and a pre-registration and Phil-JobNet online registration prior to May 1 job fair.
Meanwhile, DOLE 11 sealed a memorandum of agreement with the managements of Gaisano Mall represented by marketing manager Dondi Alentajan and SM City Davao mall manager Lynette Lopez, and two partner media outfits: ABS-CBN represented by Vina Araneta- Pilapil and GMA Davao Channel 7 represented by news and public affairs program manager Darius P.
