National Telecommunication 11 (NTC 11) Director Nelson Cañete said the Philippines’ new telecommunications provider DITO Telecommunity Corporation (formerly known as Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc., or Mislatel) is currently on lot acquisition stage for its tower construction in Davao City.
“Diri sa Davao City, lot acquisition pa. Naa sila’y lot acquisition karon, sila man gud nagapili ug asa sila mobutang og tower,” Cañete said in a Facebook messenger message.
Dito Telecommunity Corporation is the third major telecommunications provider in the Philippines after Globe and Smart. It is a joint venture of Udenna Corporation, Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp., and China Telecommunications Corporation.
Aside from the Davao City lot acquisition, Cañete said the local government of Nabunturan is currently conducting hearing for the constructions of DITO’s three towers in the said municipality.
“Didto sa Nabunturan nag-hearing na ang LGU para sa ilang three towers,” he said.
DITO is committed to providing Filipinos superior products and services of world-class quality, enabling customers to be connected, anytime, anywhere, any way they prefer. It also aims to begin commercial operations in March 2021.
The entry of DITO is expected to lift the country’s very slow internet speed.
“Dili ko sure nga ma-okey na internet service kay wala pa man nato na-try ang ilang service pero at least, naa nay mapilian ang tawo. Hope lang ta nga okey ang services sa DITO,” Cañete said.
