With the Covid-19 pandemic hitting the food industry badly, SM City Davao is flipping the switch that would spark a restart.

On Friday, SM City Davao opened a Food Festival at the event center putting forward its line-up of dining tenants. Eight tenants took part in the event which included Juice Cubi, Mang Inasal, Bon Appetea, Green Bountry, and Giardino Gelato which installed their respective pop up store and offered discounts.

The food stalls at the event center will be available until Sunday but the food fest will run the whole months of September and October with dining tenants providing exciting deals, discounts and promotions.

“Food fest is a nationwide campaign by SM Supermalls which gives tenants a chance to get customers through a pop up store outside their stores,” said Ruel Morales, marketing manager of SM City Davao in an interview.

Morales said operations of the mall’s dining tenants are not the same pre-Covid. Although, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has allowed restaurants in other parts of the country under modified GCQ to reopen, however, at 50 percent capacity.

To help restaurants cater more diners, SM City Davao has provided dining space at the event center for those who can no longer be accommodated in the restaurants due to limited seating capacity.
