With the entry of new breed of Dutertes into politics, various expectations have been raised as to whether they will be able to match or even exceed the accomplishments of their elders who are already in politics.
The newest Duterte who joined the political arena was Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, son of Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte and namesake of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for councilor of the First District of City Council under Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HTL).
The younger Duterte was accompanied by his father, Rep. Pulong.
In an interview, Rep. Pulong said he expects that the new breed of Dutertes would serve the people in their generation.
“Hinaut nga wala pa man kadaug pud, dapat maatiman pud niya katong ilang generation karon para security pud sa ilahang umaabot na mga anak,” Rep. Pulong said.
Rep. Pulong also emphasized to Rigo the value of gratitude for the support of the Dabawenyos to the Dutertes and advised him to continue providing medical and other services to the people of Davao City, particularly the less fortunate.
Meanwhile, Rigo said that he is ready to serve the Dabawenyos.
He said while helping the First Congressional District Office of Rep. Pulong, he realized the importance of serving the Dabawenyos.
Omar Vincent Duterte, eldest son of Rep. Pulong has also thrown his hat in the political ring serving as barangay chairman in Buhangin.
