Ungab vows to fulfill completion of UP-Min Sports Complex

Congressman Isidro Ungab, who is seeking his last term as a representative of the Third District of Davao City, vowed on Thursday to fulfill the completion of the UP-Mindanao Sports Complex if he wins in the 2025 midterm elections.

The 20-hectare sports complex will house world-class and state-of-the-art sports facilities. It is expected to be finished by 2026 in time for the hosting Palarong Pambasa.

“I will do my best to complete the finishing touches sa atong sports complex sa UP Mindanao hapit naman gyud na mahuman,” he said in an interview after filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) under the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HTL) at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) field office inside Magsaysay Park in Davao City on Thursday.

He said he would focus on the continuity of his projects in District 3. He said these projects only has a few needs for completion.

“More or less human human na nako ang tanan infrasturctures, when I say road nework dili lang ang main road networks, nasumpay sumpay pa gyud nako ang kalsada. We provided school buildings, teacher’s manpower, barangay halls, covered courts, electricity, water system or less na kompleto namo finishing touches and additional maintenance,” he said.

Ungab was the second candidate under HTL who filed his COC following the filing of COC of Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II on Wednesday.

He added that his advocacy will be in line with the stand of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Meanwhile, three aspirants also submitted their COCs on the third day of COC filing.

Priscilla Galope Albarracin, former kawagad of Brgy. 5-A, was the first aspirant to file her COC on the third day of filing COC. Albarracin is seeking a city council seat for the first district of Davao City under Lakas-CMD.

Ricky Liparanon, incumbent chair of Brgy. Baliok filed his COC and is seeking a city council seat for the first district of Davao City also under Lakas-CMD.

Antonio A. Emberda, an independent candidate, has declared his candidacy to serve as a councilor in the city’s second district. He is advocating for sustainable agriculture.

Emberda, a resident of Nova Tierra, Brgy Vicente Hizon, was once a business management and statistics professor at the Ateneo de Davao University.
