Tourism dept expects 30M tourists during Holy Week

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is expecting some 30 million Filipino and foreign tourists to visit the country’s most popular tourist attractions this Holy Week.

In a statement, the DOT said Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Palawan, Siargao, Baguio, Batangas, Ilocos Norte and Sur, Pampanga, Pangasinan, and Puerto Galera may be this year’s top destinations.

Camiguin, Siquijor, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, and Sarangani are also seeing more tourists, the DOT added.

Meanwhile, in Manila, the historic walled city of Intramuros may receive 2.4 million visitors who will observe the holy season or immerse themselves in the country’s history.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco urged tourists to book DOT-accredited hotels for a safe and convenient stay.

“These accredited establishments have undergone a thorough accreditation process, ensuring that visitors receive truly high-quality experiences,” Frasco said.

Frasco said the Department has activated its regional operations centers to monitor high-traffic tourism areas to oversee the tourism destinations there.

Tourists who need help may also call the DOT Tourist Assistance Call Center (TACC) 151-TOUR (151-8687), or mobile number 0954-253-3215. The call center, which operates 24/7, offers multilingual support, including Korean and Mandarin.

They can also send an email to tourismassistance@tourism.gov.ph, or send a message to the Department of Tourism – Philippines Facebook page.
