Higher ancillary services (AS) rates raised transmission rates of power consumers for November, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Tuesday.
AS rates, pass-through expenses for power supplied by power generators, rose by PHP0.0997 per kilowatt hour (kWh), or from PHP0.6546 to PHP0.7542.
In a briefing, NGCP head of regulatory management Julius Ryan Datingaling said transmission wheeling rate, or the fee for delivering power through the grid, also increased by PHP0.0034/kWh and is now at PHP0.5953/kWh from PHP1.5105/kWh.
“The increase in rates generally is due to the ancillary service reserve,” Datingaling said, citing the impact of higher oil prices.
On Monday, the Manila Electric Company reported a rate uptick for November due to higher transmission rates.
The power rate this month will be PHP13.4702/kWh from PHP13.3182/kWh in October. (PNA)
