The Davao Region’s employment rate rose to 96.4 percent in July.
Data released by the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) 11 (Davao Region) in Davao City Friday showed that the figure is higher than the national estimate of 94.7 percent but slightly lower than the 96.9 percent logged in the same month last year.
The agency stated that, in terms of levels, the number of employed persons in July 2025 was recorded at 2.29 million.
Meanwhile, the region’s underemployment rate increased to 10.5 percent in July, up from 3.9 percent in April and 3.7 percent in July last year.
“In terms of magnitude, about 241,000 of the 2.29 million employed individuals expressed the desire to have additional hours of work in their present job or to have additional job, or to have a new job with longer hours of work in July 2025,” the agency said.
PSA-11 records showed that the labor force participation rate (LFPR) in July was 61 percent, lower than the reported LFPRs in July 2024 (62.5 percent) and April 2025 (63.6 percent).
The reported LFPR in July indicates that 2.38 million Dabawenyos aged 15 years and above were part of the labor force, meaning they are either employed or unemployed but actively seeking work.
The number of individuals aged 15 or higher in the labor force was 2.39 million in July 2024 and 2.47 million in April 2025. (PNA)
