Davao de Oro town simplifies biz permit process, approval

The local government unit (LGU) of Mawab, Davao de Oro has reaffirmed its commitment to support local business owners by streamlining permit and approval processes to create a more business-friendly environment.

Mayor Myrill Apit, in a phone interview on Tuesday, said the initiative is designed to encourage entrepreneurship, boost economic growth, and generate employment opportunities for residents.

“We instructed concerned offices to streamline procedures, reduce delays, and provide clear guidance to applicants. We want to make it easier for business owners to invest and operate in Mawab,” she said.

Apit also reminded entrepreneurs to keep their operations legal and compliant with local and national regulations, emphasizing that fairness and accountability must go hand in hand with improved services.

“Our goal is to promote a dynamic local economy where businesses can grow and continue providing jobs to our people. We encourage everyone to follow proper procedures and secure the necessary permits before operating,” she said.

The municipal government is developing capacity-building and support programs to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) meet requirements and establish sustainable operations.

The efforts showcase Mawab’s commitment to boosting local commerce while ensuring that growth is rooted in safety, compliance, and equal opportunity.

“We fully support legitimate businesses, but those that choose to ignore legal requirements will face appropriate action, including closure, if necessary,” Apit added.

The municipality has a growing number of businesses focused on agriculture, such as bananas and coconuts, as well as local trade, with many small shops and service providers serving residents. (PNA)
