Business Bureau urge business owners to settle discrepancies

Business owners in the city are urged to resolve any outstanding deficiencies with other regulatory agencies to ensure a smooth permit application or renewal process.

“We are very strict in following through mga deficiencies nga gi-endorse sa mga lain-lai’ng regulatory offices (We are very strict in following through with deficiencies endorsed by other regulatory offices),” Maribel Paguican, Head of the Business Bureau, said in an interview with the Madayaw Program over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Monday.

Deficiencies from offices such as the Office of the City Building Official (OCBO) for building permits, or the Bureau of Fire Protection for safety certificates, are reflected on the permit application forms and must be cleared.

“Kindly settle kay dili gyud matagaan og permit because gi-afford naman mo og consideration before. This time, comply with your deficiencies o mga kakulangan sa lain-lai’ng opisina including our office para naka-issue na pud ta og permit ninyo (Kindly settle your discrepancies so that we can issue your permits since you were already given consideration before. This time, comply with these deficiencies from other offices including ours),” Paguican added.

She also said that, based on their records, only a few business permits were released to date. This is because some businesses must first resolve minor discrepancies flagged by other regulatory offices. Paguican stressed that these businesses have already paid for and completed their permit applications; the only remaining requirement is to settle these outstanding issues with other offices.

The Business Permit One-Stop Shop is on-going and will continue until January 31, 2026. Business owners who have yet to apply for the renewal of their permits are urged to begin processing their renewals as there will be no extensions for the deadline of the payment. CIO
