Grab, Move It expand insurance coverage for riders, passengers

Grab Philippines and its motorcycle taxi arm Move It have expanded their emergency insurance coverage in partnership with insurer Cocolife, aiming to improve hospital access and financial protection for riders and passengers.

In a statement, Grab said the enhanced program allows users involved in emergencies during Grab and Move It rides to access more than 700 Cocolife-accredited hospitals nationwide.

The company said the expanded coverage is designed to address time-critical gaps during on-trip incidents, particularly in securing immediate medical attention and hospitalization for both riders and passengers.

“Safety and protection must continue to evolve with the realities our partners and passengers face every day,” said Grab Philippines Managing Director Ronald Roda. “We will continue investing in stronger safety nets so our partners can earn with confidence and passengers can ride with greater peace of mind,” he added.

Under the enhanced insurance program, eligible users across the country may receive hospital assistance of up to P50,000 per member per year to help cover essential accident-related medical expenses.

The benefits include emergency room services, inpatient care, and outpatient treatment at Cocolife-accredited hospitals nationwide. Additional assistance may also be provided on a case-to-case basis, according to Grab.

The program likewise streamlines the claims process to enable faster access to medical care during emergencies. Riders and passengers may proceed directly to any accredited hospital, which will coordinate with Cocolife and the platforms’ support teams for verification and approval.

For on-the-ground support, Grab and Move It’s Emergency Response Unit works with the Incident Response Team to facilitate transfers and endorsements to accredited hospitals, ensuring timely admission and treatment when needed.
