The country’s automotive industry recorded a decline in overall vehicle sales in February 2026, according to combined data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).

A total of 35,842 vehicles were sold in February, marking an 8.5% decrease compared to 39,164 units sold in the same month last year.

Despite the annual decline, sales improved on a monthly basis, rising 6.4% from 33,696 units in January. CAMPI president Jose Maria Atienza attributed the increase to better supply conditions, noting that most brands were able to meet the month’s demand.

He explained that January typically sees lower sales due to tighter inventory following strong consumer purchases in December.

Atienza also acknowledged that the ongoing Middle East conflict may be influencing Filipino motorists’ decisions in terms of vehicle choice and usage.

He noted that automakers continue to expand and diversify their offerings, particularly by introducing more energy-efficient and electrified models to provide consumers with more economical alternatives.

Electric vehicle (EV) sales showed significant growth. A total of 3,098 EVs were sold in February, a 70.6% increase from 1,816 units in February 2025. Month-on-month, EV sales also climbed 18.7% from 2,610 units in January.

Atienza said the continued rise in EV sales reflects the growing preference among customers for electrified vehicles.

In terms of market performance for February, Toyota Motor Philippines remained the industry leader with 17,954 units sold, accounting for 50% of total sales. It was followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp., Suzuki Philippines Inc., Nissan Philippines Inc., and Ford Motor Company Philippines Inc., which rounded out the top five brands for the month.
