BIR rolls out program to help micro, small taxpayers in tax compliance

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Makati has launched a new mentoring program to help micro and small taxpayers easily understand and comply with their tax rules.

In a statement Thursday, the BIR said the Micro and Small Taxpayers Assistance and Mentoring Program (MS-TAMP), which launched on Sept. 15, serves as a dedicated support and educational framework rather than an audit initiative.

The BIR also issued regional orders implementing MS-TAMP, establishing organizational structure, creating the official Revenue Region No. 8A-Makati City Viber Community Channel, an MS-TAMP infomercial and the ceremonial sending of assistance notices to taxpayers.

“At its core, MS-TAMP is about helping taxpayers. Through data-driven monitoring, taxpayer education, and coordinated assistance, we want to identify where guidance is needed, reach out early, and help our micro and small taxpayers comply correctly,” BIR Regional Director and MS-TAMP Executive Sponsor Antonino Ilagan said.

“This is not an audit program –it is an assistance and mentoring program.”

BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza said the program aims to help taxpayers understand their obligation, address concerns, and make compliance easier. (With a report from Anna Leah Gonzales/PNA)
