Many and varied are the answers.
ONE: It’s moving forward along the right path towards a promising horizon. The future looks bright. Out people have strong faith in the new leadership. We are going where the sun is shining. The people are full of hope. All things are bright and beautiful, and the voters (who voted for me) made them all.
So declares P-Noy!
TWO: Our country is going nowhere. It’s not moving at all. There’s no clear policy direction, no economic roadmap to follow. P-Noy and his classmates and friends are committing one blunder after another. P-Noy is confused, and is full of pretexts.
That’s according to the political opposition.
THREE: Nothing has changed in our country. Crimes are still aplenty – massacres, kidnaps, carnaps, hostage-taking, illegal gambling, illegal recruitment, illegal drug manufacturing, high profile cases are dragging, scams are everywhere. All is bum, all is not bright.
So says the Crime Watch group of Jimenez and Ang See.
FOUR: From a political standpoint, our country is going to the politicians – senators, congressmen, governors, mayors, local legislators, what with their pork barrels, surreptitious allowances and intelligence funds, etc.
Actually, our country has gone to the politicians from the moment we embraced democracy and established a republic in 1898 with the 28-year old Emilio Aguinaldo as its first elected president.
But for over three centuries, our country had gone to the Spanish friars who, in conspiracy with the civilian government, had us “indios” under their thumbs.
Today, Filipino friars known collectively as CBCP are seriously, shamelessly and arrogantly imposing their views, beliefs and doctrines on the state. They defy state policies, pro-oppose and even sabotage government programs, and threaten the head of the state with spiritual sanction.
That’s how desperate are these Filipino friars. They want to bring back those dark, ignominious days of friars and abuses. They behave like spiritual bullies!
FIVE: From an economic standpoint, our country is going to the businessmen – the bankers, the condo builders, the housing and resort moguls, the BPO operators, the export traders, the manufacturers, the oil giants, the retail store magnates, the foreign job recruiters, etc.
The country’s top commercial banks are raking profits in the billions of pesos, with BPI netting 11.3 billion. The eighth ranked bank, RCBC registered 4.25 billion in profit.
SIX: Our country is going to the AFP generals, if we don’t check their greed and easy access to military funds. Billions have been taken by past generals. Who knows what the new ones will do, and how much they will take?
SEVEN: Our country is going nuts, what with the price of copra soaring up to more than 300 percent per kilo. Coconut traders and growers are laughing their way to the bank like crazy. They are going nuts over coconuts.
EIGHT: Our country is going bananas, what with the continuous demand for Philippine bananas in Asia and Europe.
Finally, our country is going gaga over Lady Gaga, also over football because of Pinoy Azkals.
And believe it or not, our country is going gaga seemingly endlessly, over Noynoy. The Yellow People (those who think Noynoy is spotless). They are deaf and blind to all his blunders and lies, and his approach to delicate situations and sensitive problems facing the country.
