AN old but popular saying tells us that money can’t buy happiness.
Do you agree? If you don’t, you’re right!
According to a study by the University of Warwick in London, England, money CAN and DOES buy happiness.
Well, not literally, of course. You see, one just doesn’t go out and buy happiness over the counter in a convenience store. It’s not a consumable item, you know.
The Warwick study says that one needs a lot of money to be truly happy, and the degree of happiness depends on the amount of money one has in the bank.
So, there you are – more money equals greater happiness. Sounds logical, doesn’t it? But, is it lasting?
Now, how much brings true happiness? One million US dollars, the study says. Converted to pesos, that’s a bit over forty-three million pesos these days (give or take), enough to last several lifetimes for the average Pinoy family if properly managed.
The London study reveals that a substantial amount of money – thousands of dollars – can definitely cause positive changes in people’s lifestyle.
First, they begin to feel a marked improvement in their psychological health. Second, they begin to have more self confidence and show a pronounced happy disposition.
The study concludes, quite strongly, that indeed and in fact, MONEY CHANGES people, more than anything else.
Money may be an abstract thing – in one sense-, but it is discernible in one’s body language, eyes and face.
A happy person exudes an aura of confidence and contentment. He/she talks lucidly and moves smartly, even exhibiting some traces of arrogance and unmistakeable bravura.
Now, what kind of money brings happiness to people?
The London study lists the following categories:
Inheritance money – these are tax-free;
Lottery earned or through successful business ventures;
Retirement money, at least one million dollars;
How credible is the London study? Its unquestionable. A hundred of researchers toiled for 10 years collating information and talking to more than 10,000 individuals of different economic social strata. Their answers led to one common indisputable fact: Money works wonders on people.
Do you want to be a millionaire and a happy person? Try any of the following tested ways:
Go to business; 2. Go buy a lottery ticket; 3. Go after Yamashita’s treasures; 4. Go find a rich widow/widower; 5. Go to Congress.
If any of the above fails, then go berserk.

The bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. So, don’t love money; love the one who has plenty of it. But, be sure you are loved in return.
