It’s December, the twelfth and last month of the year. Soon 2017 will be over and a new year comes. But before that, the Christian world will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came to save the humanity from total annihilation.
Christmas is the time of giving gift, decorating homes with Christmas emblems, singing Christmas carols and hymns, sharing love to fellowmen, and feasting. Yet, there is a lot of eating, drinking and merrymaking.
If you happen to be in Davao City this month, why don’t you visit or better still stay at the Waterfront Insular Hotel located in Kilometer 7 in Lanang. It has prepared something and more for their guests and visitors which they can indulge through an array of treats and Yuletide delights.
The hotel is already geared up for the holidays and it has an upcoming fusion of Filipino cuisine. “Waterfront’s dynamic culinary team is joined by Celebrity Chefs Roland and Jackie Laudico in coming up with delightful treats and savories to complete every Filipino’s holiday dining experience,” a press statement said.
Let’s enumerate them one by one. At Café Uno, for instance, there is a line-up of house specialties. You can even savor the Laudicos’ signature dishes that include the holiday favorite, roast Turkey!
What about at the Pizaaiolo, whose leisurely atmosphere makes the perfect ambience for some casual snacks or pre-dinner treats. You can have to your heart’s contents those flavored Danish to traditional Filipino festive yeast breads and rolls. These sure treats that are perfect for the season go well with a warm cup of coffee which you can enjoy while waiting for friends or colleagues. From 3 to 6 pm, it has prepared a variety of seasonal savories, too.
Mornings during this season is always something to remember. More so, if you are at the Waterfront. In the spirit of Filipino tradition, the hotel is hosting a series of dawn masses at the hotel lobby from December 16 to 24.
Don’t worry about what you gonna eat after the mass. You can go directly at Pizzailo and enjoy an unlimited serving of the Christmas drink like “sikwate” or “salabat.” Or you may still prefer the usual brewed coffee. You can sip any with a variety of “kakanin.”
If mornings are worth to remember, the nights are even more exciting and awesome. It’s good to spend your Noche Buena and Media Noche at home. But if you happen to be away from your home, you can have the same kind of treats at the Waterfront.
The hotel is said to be rounding up its best tasting dishes for a gastronomic dinner buffet on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. On Christmas Eve, you can have “rellenong bangus,” pork “hamonado,” “lechon,” Filipino-style spaghetti with meat balls and “queso de bola” among many other delicacies.
The dishes for New Year’s Eve are even more mouth-watering: pork “menudo” special, beef “caldereta,” mixed seafood and butcher’s meat barbeque – and more! It’s not only a feast for your eyes but actually a feast for your taste buds and stomach!
If you have enough eating already, you can always have a party and drinks! After all, Christmas is a good time to jingle and mingle. You and your friends can have all the fun at the Vinta Bar. A group of 30 to 40 guests can enjoy an exclusive karaoke lounge over some appetizers and cocktails.
Don’t leave Waterfront without bringing something for your friends or family. “Guests may share the merriments of the season with their loved ones as we put together some food and beverage treats in one hamper to give away come Christmas,” said Eva Ces T. Gamalong, the hotel’s marketing communications officer.
If you’re wondering what is inside the hamper, you can make a guess. But actually, it contains generous assortments of breads and rolls, fruit cakes, brownies, colored cookies, pralines, a bottle of wine and a pillow.
“With all these Yuletide offerings, memories of the past holidays – of friendship and family bonding, of food that warm the heart and drinks to toast the season – can come back to kindle the anticipation and excitement for the holidays,” the press statement said.
Start your Yuletide holiday now!
