He said he’s been ‘away’ from those close to him for some time. So he made it sure to come home to the warm embrace of the local flock.
On Friday night (September 22), President Rodrigo R. Duterte came home to his friends in the local media community and it felt good both ways.
And yes, the President’s favorite meeting place in Davao—the Matina Enclaves—played host to this memorable night.
The President said he wanted to spend time with the local media after his life changed when he became the country’s 16th leader last year. With the tight security cordon, he has never been this up close. But not on this night. He sat with the news-tizens and hobnobbed with them like the old times when he was the city’s Mayor, and yes, even belted a few of his favorite songs.
Norman Mitchell, April Boy Regino (who thanked the President for his help with treatment of his impaired vision), Eric Santos, Jimmy Bondoc and Thor and Pido provided the entertainment with a bevy of Duterte songs lighting up the mood of the occasion.
The President spoke seriously on his non-negotiable mission against illegal drugs and corruption but otherwise, the atmosphere was light and the mood cheerful much like Christmas in September.
