Sarangani women form rural improvement clubs

Sarangani businessman Roy Chiongbian praised the province’s rural women as “achievers and home managers” during the celebration of their Rural Improvement Clubs (RIC) – Women for International Development of Sarangani (WINDS) last Wednesday.
“You are different,” said Chiongbian, a businessman who heads the Chiongbian Group of Companies.
The RICs conduct a provincial gathering every year “to strengthen their commitment and become bigger and stronger,” according to outgoing president Virginia Nabor.
“You are the driver of the family for progress and for that I salute you. You are a very good example of women power,” Chiongbian said. “Show them that yes, you can, and use your women power to help our province.”
This year’s theme is “Mobilizing Rural Women Entrepreneurs on Agri-Business Development” was attended by 400 members and representatives from the seven municipalities.
Trade and industry provincial director Nenita Barroso urged the women to export their RIC products.
Barroso also made a presentation on effective marketing strategies for women entrepreneurs.
“Women empowerment means to have the honor and strength to develop our abilities for a family-centered interest” board member Eunice Santos said.
Santos swore into office the new set of officers led by Perla Ampodia from RIC Maitum and promised to help in the food security effort of the government.
Ampodia’s Angel Joy brand produces honeyed banana chips and Maitum’s Ilokano Bagoong with assistance from the DTI.
“The local government is always there to provide technical and skills trainings for us to build our own business and augment our family income,” Ampodia said. [Sarangani Information Office]
