Aboitiz-owned electric utility Davao Light and Power Company finds a unique way of joining the officials of barangay Mandug in Buhangin district in the celebration of their Araw ng Barangay last August 7.
This was done by helping provide medicines in their medical and dental outreach project conducted at the barangay covered court that started in the morning and lasted way after lunch.
Davao Light Community Relations (Comrel) Department officials turned over the medicines shortly before the start of the medical and dental interventions. Barangay Captain Rosita Nerez received the medicines in behalf of the patients. Eight retired employees of the company later joined Comrel in the medical/dental outreach activity.
The medicines intended for as many as one hundred fifty (150) common ailments patients and 100 dental cases include pain relievers, fever, cough and colds medications, anti-allergy, and anti-diarrhea.
Last Saturday’s involvement of Davao Light in the Mandug outreach was the third that it did for the benefit of the barangay constituents most, if not all, of them also customers of the electric utility.
The barangay officials were also able to solicit medicine and services from other organizations and medical-dental practitioners. Majority of the doctors and dentists, though, came from the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police. There were also doctors from the Philippine Medical Women’s Association – Davao City Chapter.
Giving medical supplies and engaging in support activities during medical and dental missions is one of the many ways that Davao Light do in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program focus on Primary and Community Health.
