With the recent publication of ERC Resolution No. 23 of 2010 prescribing the rules and regulations for implementing senior citizens’ discount on electricity consumption, Davao Light and Power Company announced that it is now accepting applications from all senior citizens.
The granting of the 5% discount is pursuant to the Expanded Senior Citizens Act, R. A. 9994 of 2010. The discount applies per household regardless the number of senior citizens residing therein.
For senior citizens who have been qualified to avail, the actual discount is only given when the monthly residential consumption does not exceed 100 kWh. For a senior citizen to qualify, the electric service contract of the residence must be in the name of the senior citizen.
Aside from senior citizen individuals, senior citizen centers and residential care facilities/institutions or group homes may also avail of the said discount as long as they can comply with the necessary conditions.
Qualified senior citizens and centers who wish to avail of the discount must apply at the company’s Customer Retail Services Department located at C. Bangoy Sr. Street or at Panabo branch office along Km. 31 National Highway, Panabo City.
