The country’s largest developer of run-of-river hydropower plants Hedcor, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of AboitizPower, have participated in the project of Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela from May 21 to 28, 2011.
Brigada Eskwela is an annual activity of DepEd, encouraging the participation of the community to prepare the schools two weeks before the opening of classes in June. This year, Hedcor sent out employee-volunteers to repair the adopted schools. Among the activities are: repainting of classrooms, repairs of chairs and desks, replacement of broken windows, sruced up gardens and replacement of buster bulbs.
Apart from Brigada Eskwela, Hedcor’s CSR programs include donation of school buildings, computer donation, school supplies and scholarship grants to deserving indigenous students.
“Hedcor is indeed a blessing to students of our school because of its endless support and for making us one of the adopted schools”, Catalunan Pequeño National High School (CPNHS) principal Evelyn Magno said.
CPNHS is one of the adopted schools of Hedcor in Davao City and is a recipient of a school building donated by Hedcor.
Hedcor operates a total of 18 run-of-river hydropower plants in Benguet and Davao with a total capacity of 150 MWs.
