Some 200 indigenous people (IP) children from various tribes in Compostela Valley will no longer worry about their school supplies this coming school opening as they are the recipients of Tabang Paeskwela sa Tribo.
A project of the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) Compostela Valley Province , the Tabang Paeskwela sa Tribo will be giving away today school bags, notebooks, rulers, crayola, paste, colored papers and white t-shirts for IP children.
NCIP Provincial Officer Shirley Iguianon said the children are coming from the municipalities of Monkayo, Compostela, Montevista, Maco, New Bataan and Mawab, and slots are properly spread among the children of Mandaya, Dibabawon, Manguangan and Mansaka.
Iguianon said she had started the Tabang Paeskwela sa Triboeight years ago but only the IP children in Monkayo and Compostela got their share of school supplies.
“We are able to give more as many have become interested to
donate,” she said.
Donors of school supplies are NCIP partner investors in IP areas and government agencies particularly the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Department of Education (DepEd), the Philippine Mining Development Corporation (PMDC), the Provincial Government of Compostela Valley.
The NCIP scholars also put in their share of school supply donation for the IP kids.
They will not only be receiving school supplies but they will also be treated to a lunch with Jollibee to give them more delightful moments, Iguianon said. [PIA 11/ Jeanevive D. Abangan]
