Davao del Norte Gov. Rodolfo P. del Rosario turned over last week a P295,000 worth of cheque to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Eastern Mindanao Command for the renovation of Camp Panacan Hospital in Davao City.
Del Rosario said the financial assistance will “better serve our soldiers” in the field.
Del Rosario bared that each province in the Davao region has a designated room in the military hospital.
In receiving the cheque, Col. Antonio Tayag, assistant chief of AFP EastMinCom Unified Central Command for Logistics, said the renovation of Camp Panacan Hospital will also serve dependents of the soldiers.
Although a military facility, the Camp Panacan Hospital can also accommodate civilians on a case-to-case basis, especially during emergencies, but it is not open to the public.
Tayag shared that provincial governors in the region volunteered to shell out funds for the renovation of the hospital whose quality the EastMinCom would like to raise at par with the standards of the Department of Health (DOH)-managed hospitals.
“It will undergo improvement with full amenities. It will also be especially friendly with wheeled patients,” he added.
EastMinCom has already completely renovated seven wards of the hospital. [PIA 11/jean d. abangan]
