Contrary to the old adage, in electricity, what you don’t know CAN hurt you.
With customers’ safety as a paramount issue for Davao Light and Power Company, an AboitizPower subsidiary, the company goes the extra mile to inform its customers on the hazards of electricity so they can avoid accidents.
Dubbed as Intensified Safety or I-Safety Campaign, the activity now on its second run, benefitted around 70 constituents of Barangay Katualan last May 4. Katualan is about an hour travel on rugged road from Panabo City proper. The campaign is in support to the observance of the National Electrical Safety Month, and in coordination with the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. Northern Davao Chapter and the Local Government of Panabo City.
Aside from giving information on the risks related to electricity, the campaign also included an Anti-Pilferage presentation aimed at educating and protecting the customers from unscrupulous acts related to electricity theft. Moreover, presentations on Energy Saving Tips and How to Read Electric Meter were made so as to help them manage their electricity.
The activity was spearheaded by the company’s LMC-Safety & Security Subcommittee under Chairman Nelson Gumba, together with Dado Gonzales of the Safety Department, Leo Apalisoc of the Revenue Protection Department, and Panabo Branch representative Ricky Morales.
The company through its Safety Department plans to conduct similar activities in 3 barangays in Panabo City and Municipalities of Carmen, Dujali and Sto.Tomas, 3 universities and colleges and 2 barangays in Davao City within the year.
