Banking and Payments Asia (BPA), Asia’s leading journal for retail banking and payments recently announced the winners of the Banking and Payments Asia Trailblazer Awards.
The Bank of the Philippine Islands grabbed 3 awards in various categories. BPI won the Product Excellence Award in Government Prepaid through DOE’s Pantawid Pasada, a government subsidized program that aims to alleviate the cost of rising fuel among over 150,000 jeepney drivers. Last July 2011, BPI became the infrastructure provider of the DOE by powering the Prepaid Cashless Disbursement system where jeepney drivers with the Pantawid Pasada card can visit fuel stations nationwide and gas-up using the subsidy given by the government. This program helped the public by keeping public transport costs stabled.
BPI also won the award for “Process Excellence in Customer Centricity” through BPI Express Assist (BEA) and received a Special Commendation for “Channel Excellence in Internet Banking” through BPI Express Online.
Overall, BPI won in the product, channel and service categories.
