The Department of Education (DepEd) recently recognized wireless leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) for the telco’s contributions to help improve the country’s education system. Smart was selected by DepEd as one of the prime partners under the Adopt-a-School program where the education department works with corporate partners to boost the quality of public education through technology support, training and development and infrastructure.
Smart’s various initiatives for education support include the Smart Schools Program (SSP) which promotes Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in basic education through connectivity and trainings for educators and students; CommuniTeach – a community-based program designed to enhance the performance of public elementary school children through partnerships with the academe, local businesses and organizations; and training-workshops for the CVIF-Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) – a revolutionary teaching method meant to improve student performance while addressing common education concerns like shortage of teachers, classrooms and textbooks.
