Col. LLewilyn S. Banaag [second from right], commanding officer of Tactical Operations Group, Philippine Air Force (PAF) and PAF 2nd Lt. Guadalito R. Sanoy turnover Monday a high speed colour multi-function photo copier to DSWD OIC Regional Director Priscilla N. Razon [second from left] and Carolyn F. Earlier, PAF also conducted a dental mission at HGW where a number of women and girl wards availed of free tooth extraction. Col. Banaag in his message said the donation will not be the last. Adding, “We will always be there to help and render assistance and continue our linkage with Home for Girls and Women and with DSWD in general.”
On the one hand, OIC RD Razon in her acceptance message said, “Our Home for Girls and Women is very blessed with this early Christmas present from the Philippine Air Force. I am definite this equipment will help improve the efficiency in the operations of our center.” She also shared that DSWD has three other residential institutions –the Home for the Aged, the Reception and Study Center for Children and the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth. Also present at the turnover ceremonies were PAF Sgt. Arnold Manalo and other DSWD regional officials.
The HGW provides temporary shelter and relevant social work interventions to girls and women victimized of sexual abuse and exploitation, neglect and abandonment, physical and emotional battery, child labor, trafficking in persons, involuntary prostitution, armed conflict and illegal recruitment. Located in Maa, Davao City, the center also works with stranded women and women in crisis situation. To date, the center serves a total of 48 wards. [DSWD/Carmela Cadigal-Duron]
