Halad Mission Group Foundation: Life is a Mission

Indigent parients of Mati City became beneficiaries of the recent Halad Mission Group Foundation’s second halad activity dubbed as “Halad sa Mati: Minor and Major Surgical Mission” at the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center and City Health Office on July 24-26, 2014.
The project was spearheaded by Dr. Rolley Rey Lobo, HMGF President, Dr. Max Libre of UCCP Foundation and Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan, Jr, City Health Officer with the cooperation of Mayor Carlo Rabat and Vice Mayor Glenda Rabat-Gayta, LGU Mati and the Province of Davao Oriental.
A total of 70 patients were beneficiaries in the Halad activity.
Minor Cyst surgery had successfully catered 11 patients; Eye surgery, 31; Thyroid, 15; Hernia/Hydrocele, 9; Excision of Breast Mass, 2; Foreign Body removal, 1 and; Hemangioma, 1. The beneficiaries were all hopes up and grateful for the project because everything was free of charge. The funds for the surgical mission came from the Summer Frolic Party on Waves last April 4-5, 2014, LGU Mati and the other private sponsors. Halad sa Mati surgical mission has 50 volunteers comprising surgeons, anesthesiologists, ophthalmologist, nurses and others. The Southern Philippines Medical Center Surgical team graced the event with their major participation together with the other service teams, UCCP Foundation, Minimally Invasive Surgery-SPMC, City Health Office and LGU Mati.
The recent event was only part 2 of the 2nd official halad activity because the 1st part kicked off last June 28-29 at Cabuaya, Mati City with 320 beneficiaries of IM and Pedia Consultation and Minor Surgical Operations. The HMGF also gave lecture on CVD patients coming from Cabuaya, Luban and Lanca. MIS, UCCP, Dr. Rolley and Joan Lobo and children, Dr. Ben Hur and Dra. Nida Catbagan and Dr. Josil Cruz worked together to make the halad mission in Cabuaya successful.
“Life is a mission” is the Halad Mission Group Foundation’s official tagline. The group started in the year 2003 founded by Dr. Rolley Rey Lobo, Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan and Dr. Max Libre. The spirit of volunteerism and the passion to help, serve and answer the needs of our indigent brothers and sisters ignited the flame to realize their mission. HMGF’s 1st halad activity approved by the SEC skyrocketed on Dec. 20-21, 2013 at Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental and this will be an annual surgical mission to be done twice every year from then on in the City of Mati spreading out to the neighboring towns and barrios.
