Dadai Joaquin’s Art Kamp draws 31 participants

A total of 31 students joined this year’s Art Kamp, the regular art workshop of Dabawenya artist Dadai Joaquin.
Held at The White House Fusion Cuisine and Wine Lounge on April 8 to 11, Art Kamp 2015 was the fifth and biggest workshop yet for Joaquin. She started her Art Kamp series in 2011.
This year’s students ranged in age from six to their 40s. Most were students while a few were professionals, doctors, and business owners.
The students used acrylic as medium, painting various subjects on canvas over the four-day workshop.
Helping Joaquin were artists Bong Nombrado and Noel Dapit and assistants Kaye Alvarez and Lia Gaabucayan.
Joaquin expressed elation at the turnout, saying it only goes to show that there is a huge interest in the arts in Davao City.
“This is one of my ways of contributing to the promotion of the arts in Davao. I want to teach young people and professionals that they have what it takes to express themselves through art,” she said.
