The provincial government of Davao del Norte is gearing up for the Kadagayaan Festival in celebration of the province’s 48th year anniversary on June 24 to July 1.
Speaking during the recent Kapihan sa Kapitolyo at the Provincial Information Office Mini Studio, Provincial Tourism Officer Noel Daquioag said the festival will be anchored on the theme “Kadagaya ug Kasadya sa DavNor Makita.”
Daquioag said the festival will be highlighted by the Agri-Aqua Industries Trade Fair, Technology Fora, Nightly Entertainment, Alay Davao Walk with Zumba Fitness Program, and Anniversary and Awarding Program.
He said the festival will be kicked off by a motorcade to be participated in by all the city and municipal government units.
To showcase the Kadagaya or the abundance of the province, Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Anastacia Notarte said the Agri-Aqua Industries Trade Fair from June 24 to July 1 at the Capitol Parks, Provincial Government Center, Mankilam, Tagum City will feature the different products of the province.
“All the city and municipal government units will have a booth to display all their products; we also invited local nurseries to join in the trade fair,” Notarte said.
She added that alongside the trade fair, the provincial government will also hold technology fora and competitions like identification of pest control measures and fertilizers, and poster making.
For the technology fora, the lectures will concentrate on banana, cacao and vegetables on June 25; corn, rural based organizations and fisher folks on June 26; and ASEAN Integration on June 29.
“Interested farmers must contact their local agriculture office to participate in the technology fora,” Notarte emphasized.
The Kasadya or fun of the festival will include performances of national artists during the nightly entertainment from June 29 to July 1 at the Tourism Village, Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex.
Daquioag bared that the guests in the nightly entertainment will be the Banana Splits Dancers and Rodjun Cruz on June 29, Melai Conteveros and Sam Concepcion on June 30, and Aegis Band and Aljur Abrenica on July 1.
“A fireworks display will also showcase the nightly entertainment on June 30,” he said.
Daquioag said that the Alay Davao Walk on June 30 will be participated by all the agencies of the government that are located in the province.
“For this year, we are trying to improve the systems of the parade, which usually take four hours for the tail to reach the complex,” he said.
He also disclosed the anniversary ceremony will start with a Diana and will be highlighted by an awarding ceremony. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
