More than 2k participants join NKATBP in Davao City

More than 2,000 existing and would-be entrepreneurs, industry players and government and private partners took part in the three-day Negosyo, Konsyumer Atbp. (NKATBP) event in Davao City on April 25-27.
Having gathered such number of participants, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was optimistic about expanding the reach of its various programs and services.
Among the services brought nearer to more clients were product development (labeling and packaging), financing, franchising, business consultancy, business name registration and a mini-trade fair and exhibit of awarded Shared Service Facility (SSF) projects. These activities were conducted in different venues, from SMX Convention Center to Grand Regal Hotel and Park Inn.
DTI-Davao Regional Director Maria Belenda Q. Ambi explained that apart from the conduct of several training programs and seminars, the NKATBP also served as an avenue for the agency to recognize and honor the support that its partners have been continuously extending to them.
The agency awarded a Certificate of Recognition to the regional offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Department of Tourism (DOT).
As for the private sector partners, the awardees were the Philippine Exporters’ Confederation, Inc. (PhilExport), Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII), Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation, Inc. (MTE), Davao Ecocrafts Association, Inc., Food Processors Association of Davao, Inc. (FPAD), Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao, Inc. (CIDAMI), Davao Constructors Association Center, Inc., Mindanao Business Council (MinBC), ICT Davao, Inc., Tagum City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and ACDI-VOCA, Inc.
Meanwhile, a total of 34 stores and shops in the region were given the Certified Establishment (CE) Award, three of which were Gold awardees, 11 got Silver while 20 received their Bronze seals.
In the meantime, some college students were adjudged based on their writing skills for the Best Feature Story competition.
Rikk Nicholson M. Lazaro of the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) won the first and second spots for his stories “Powdered Success: Tales of the Passing Sessions” of the Subasta Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Agricultural Cooperative (SARBAC) and “Living on an Embroidered Prayer” of Artes de San Vicente, respectively, while Dianne Marie S. Navarro, still from ADDU, placed third, for her story “A Rocket to the Destination.”
“We had this success story-writing contest because we want our students to appreciate the path that our MSMEs had to experience for them to achieve their goals. We want them to be inspired by the hardwork and commitment of our local entrepreneurs,” Ambi concluded. DTI11/jmm
