TAGUM CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Undersecretary Joel B. Maglungsod visited the some 600 inmates and detainees of Compostela Valley Provincial Rehabilitation Center located in Mankilam, this city on April 11.
Usec Maglanugsod was accompanied by DOLE 11 Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante, TSSD Chief Paul V. Cruz and the DOLE Davao del Norte Field Office chief Erlinda G. Mamitag .
Comval Provincial Jail is currently situated temporarily at the Davao del Norte Provincial Government Center – Tagum City. The facility houses 622 inmates/detainees wherein 38 of them are political prisoners.
The DOLE visiting team was welcomed by Jail Warden Jose Melvin Coquilla and some jail officers and staff. A short program was prepared wherein Usec Maglungsod gave a short message in front of the inmates highlighting possible livelihood intervention to be implemented for detainees and their dependents.
Before the jail visit, the team paid a courtesy call on Davao del Norte Provincial Gov. Anthony G. Del Rosario who was represented by Provincial Administrator Samson J. Sanchez.
Also accompanying during the visit are Ms. Gloria Excel S. Pamugas, Regional PESO League President, Mr. Miles A. Atugan, Comval Senior Labor Officer and the livelihood focals of DOLE Comval and Davao del Norte. Lym Relampagos Ongoy/DOLE11-DNFO
