In line with the first anniversary of the strategic partnership, almost a hundred employees from Security Bank Corporation (SBC) and Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG) joined hands to paint the walls of a two-story school building which is a donation of the Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI) under the “Build A School, Build A Nation: The Classrooms Project”, a multi-sectoral initiative to address classroom shortage in the Philippines. The school building will benefit more than 300 students every school year. To date, Security Bank Foundation has turned over 347 classrooms to 73 public schools in 42 cities and municipalities nationwide.
Through “The Classrooms Project”, Security Bank is actively involved in increasing social awareness and participation among its employees and engaging the Bank’s clients in community development. “Through this joint school painting project, we were able to bring the employees of the two banks together to volunteer their time in service of our public school beneficiaries”, said Security Bank Foundation, Inc. Chairman Rafael Simpao, Jr.
Security Bank and MUFG are both committed in making a difference to the communities they serve. The school painting outreach is just one of the many community-based projects that are already in the pipeline. “Our partnership with Security Bank goes beyond business. We both share similar values in wanting to give back to the community we serve in. This activity is very meaningful as it enables the next generation to have access to education. We are grateful for the chance to collaborate with Security Bank in this activity, and look forward to more opportunities to give back to the Philippine community together,” added Liza Ortiz, Executive Vice President of MUFG’s banking entity in the Philippines.
