UCPB, in partnership with its clients, Phoenix Petroleum and Ulticon Builders, brought recently an Operation Smile volunteer surgical team to Davao City to do free surgery on 38 children with oral cleft.
This is the first of two missions that the bank and its two clients are sponsoring in Davao City. The next mission in early 2018 will target 100 patients.
UCPB has been supporting Operation Smile with funds, employee-volunteers, executive time and office space since 1986. To date, Operation Smile has treated 32,000 cleft children and young adults across the country, including 3,474 in Davao City.
Apart from health and wellness, UCPB is actively supporting three other United Nations Sustainable Development Goals namely: quality and inclusive education; sustainable forest management and biodiversity; and poverty alleviation.
