A veteran contractor and ranking civic leaders in Davao City said the impact of his becoming one of the national finalists last year in the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year search can not be gainsaid.
“Of course there is no way that the EOY recognition will ever touch my life as just one of those things,” contractor Remigio “Boy” Salanatin told Edge Davao when asked to comment on the search which is again open for nomination until May 31.
“It gave me so much personal satisfaction and fulfillment. So rewarding. I was on cloud nine for quite a time,” according to Boy, who established the construction company bearing his name after topping the board examination for civil engineers years back.
He said the recognition gives him much pride, especially that this came just a year after being one of the awardees of the “Most Inspiring Dabawenyo Entrepreneurs” from the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship in coordination with the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and the Department of Trade and Industry.”
Salanatin, a respected leader of Rotary International, said the change of his outlook in life was dramatic.
“While the award boosted my self confidence as a person, it was a humbling experience at the same time. I became even more appreciative of everything around me – my family, my staff, my colleagues, my community. I became more grateful to my God for the privileges that come along with the recognition.”
“All the more I feel that I have more reasons to be a person, not just for my family and my community but to reach out to a bigger family of communities,” he said.
“I am inspired to work hard even just to maintain the level of excellence I have manifested in the things I do – if improving some more is quite far-fetched.”
“I am inspired to share with others the rationale and lessons of an entrepreneurial spirit and attitude in the things we do in business, profession or vocation. I am inspired to continue to touch and improve the lives of others – – to be an inspiration to as many people as there can be,” he concluded. [AMA]
