THE PRESIDENTIABLES: Kapatiran presidentiable not giving way to Noynoy

The standard bearer of the Ang Kapatiran Party (AKP) will not withdraw from the 2010 presidential race.
This was bared by Olongapo City Councilor JC delos Reyes, AKP presidential aspirant who said that it is of utmost urgency for all to contribute in discerning for ‘principled partisan politics.’
“We owe this to the Filipino as this is the only way we could even begin the process of genuine change,” he said.
Delos Reyes said “we will not relent in our plan to run for and try to win the presidency and other elective national and local positions so that we could work toward the urgent reforms this country needs e.g., the abolition of the pork barrel system and the enactment of the IRR for the political dynasty provision of the 1987 Constitution, among others.”
As standard-bearer of Ang Kapatiran Party espousing the politics of principles and platform over personalities, moral values over political expediency, the recent political developments highlight the need to further the cause for responsible and accountable political parties.  Principles and platform are universal and long lasting and can be institutionalized through responsible and accountable political parties.  Personalities on the other hand change and are oftentimes fickle, he said.
He said that in the midst of calls for coalitions and alliances to support Senators Aquino and Roxas or any future “flavor of the month” personality(ies) for that matter, “let us be mindful that historically this does not work for our people,” adding that political expediency and convenience ultimately morphs into the very monster we intend to slay – traditional politicians and traditional politics.
“We need to change the way we want to change lest we as a people become the proverbial dog returning to its own vomit,” he said.
“It is we, the Filipino people, who should prostrate ourselves in deep discernment as to what we really desire in the kind of politics we conduct in our nation. We are all called to ‘principled partisan politics.’ It is not a person but an institution that could lead this country forward. At no time in our history is there a need to introduce responsible and accountable political parties pushing for the prophetic politics of personal and social transformation.
